Meet Dawna Pipersburg from Belize, Central America

Q: Where are you from originally?
A: Belize, Central America, then I moved to New York

Q: Why did you choose Naples?
A: Naples chose me.  I Left New York and Lived in Miami for 5 years, I wanted to be closer to my parents who lived in there.  I literally fell in love with the area.  However, Miami had too much hustle and bustle for me.   Naples is more the type of person that I am.  More greenery, more laid back, and a little slower. I have lived in Collier County since April 2009

Q:  What is your current Career?
A:   I am an Accountant and have my own business in Naples.

Q:  What inspired you to become an accountant?
A:  When I took my first accounting class in my first year of high school, that’s when I knew this was going to be my career.

Q:  Do you have a Favorite Restaurant?
A:  Yes, but it isn’t in Naples.  My favorite restaurant is actually in Bonita Springs, DeRomo’s Restaurant in Bonita Bay.

Q:  Who is the most interesting person you met here in Naples?
A:   That would be Shelly Church.  She helped me develop my business when I moved to Naples, and she was my go-to person before moving here.  She gave me an excellent kick-start to my business and I am so grateful.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A:  This may sound a little crazy, but I want to drive across country in an RV, one-way ONLY, LOL.

Q:  If you could travel anywhere in the world right now where would it be?
A:  Seychelles.  The islands lie off the coast of East Africa in the Indian Ocean.  It’s very remote, and off the beaten path.  I got the idea from my daughter Amaya.

Q:  What is your favorite music?
A:  Jazz – Spyro Gyro.

Q:  Choosing anyone alive, and a non-relative, who would you like to have lunch with and why?
A:   Irina from Russia. I met her as a young accountant, and I became sort of a mentor to her.
We meet for lunch, talk about accounting, laugh a lot, always a good time.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5-10 years?
A: Still working, I love what I do!  I will have more of my clients
referred to me by then and less subcontracting for other firms.

10 years would take me to my mid 60’s, still working and not taking on new clients and giving my current clients 100 percent of my time.

Q:  What is something people don’t know about you?
A:  I love to Roller Disco. Where do you do that?  I did it a lot in New York, it’s great exercise, and I enjoy doing it at the same time.

Q:  What is something that you want people to know about Naples?
A:  It’s an awesome place to live. It’s beautiful and well taken care of. The people are nice. It’s not as diverse as Miami, so if you like a lesser pace, picture-postcard beautiful and tropical, this is the place to live!
