Meet Maribel Ortiz
Q: How long have you lived and worked in Collier County?
A: When I was growing up I lived in Naples part-time between my parents from Ft. Myers and Naples. I moved to Naples full-time about 6-years ago for my job.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
A: Venice, Italy It’s always been on my bucket list, I’m a sucker for romance.
Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: Grease! I’ve been a dancer my whole life. I’ve done ballet and hip hop. I started Zumba 10 years ago after I gave birth to my son, I was overweight, and had gained 64 pounds with my 3rd child. I started Zumba as a student and lost 43 pounds in the first two months.
I was hooked. I have a Zumba nickname, “Maribel’s Zenzation”. I decided to become an instructor, I’ve been teaching for 9 years, it’s one of my greatest passions.
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: I’ve always wanted to skydive.
Q: What is your favorite music?
A: Salsa and Reggaeton, (the Latin version of hip hop), that’s what I grew up teaching. I took ballet when I was a young girl, and I performed in the Nut Cracker when I was 8 years old.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5-10 years?
A: I hope to have started my own business as an events planner for private parties and weddings. It will be called Maribel’s Zenzational Events.
Q: What is something interesting about you that people don’t know?
A: I was a teen Mom. This is what made me the person I am today. I have 3 kids, my son just turned 19 and leaves for the Navy this June.
Q: What would you want someone reading this to know about Naples?
A: Naples is one of the greatest cities where you can live or vacation. Naples offers a lifestyle. You can shop and dine everywhere in Naples and the fact that Naples has people like me, Lifestyle Directors, we bring lifestyles into our communities, that’s what people like and enjoy.
Q: What is your Favorite thing in Naples?
A: I know it sounds cheesy, (no pun intended) but when I crave a good burger I love eating at Brookes Burgers and Shakes, love that old fashion burger with an old fashion milkshake!
