Q: Where is your home?
A: I was initially born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri and we moved to Naples from Denver, Colorado.
Q: How did you choose Naples as your destination?
A: I got a call one day from a recruiter letting me know about the position for Director of Sales, Executive Vice President for JRW. At the time I was looking for a job as President of the company in Denver CO. that I was with.
We came down to interview, and we just fell in love with the community and John R. Wood, the family, the culture of the company, the culture of the community, and the environment, it is just beautiful. We feel so blessed to be here.
Q: What was your previous career?
A: Most of my life I’ve spent in management positions in real estate organizations. In my last position, the owner was a Master Remax franchiser, that started my real estate career, I was selling franchises for him. We ended up back in St. Louis where I became a regional Vice President with Remax running the St. Louis region; everything south of Chicago and the eastern half of Missouri. Remax moved me to their global headquarters in 2002 in Denver. I loved living in Denver, still love Denver.
Q: What is your current career?
A: I am Chief Operating Officer at John R. Wood Properties
Q: What is on your Bucket List?
A: I love international travel, I would like to go to Peru, Machu Picchu. We support an orphanage in Peru, while we are there we would visit the orphanages. My husband is a sailor, we want to sail the Croatian coast, and maybe the coast of Italy.
Q: What is your favorite music?
A: I am a playlist junkie and a control freak about it. I only want to listen to what I want to listen to when I want to. I have my boat list of music, workout music, and Caribbean music.
Q: Choosing anyone alive or dead with whom would you like to have lunch and why?
A: That’s easy, Jesus. Why? For his divine wisdom, healing, and guidance, just emulating.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5-10 years?
A: Doing more of the same stuff but more of the fun stuff too, you know checking things off of the bucket list. At JRW, continuing to grow the company, and fine-tuning some stuff here.
Q: The most interesting person you’ve met here in Naples?
A: John R Wood or Phil Wood. John R., what I love about the Wood family is John R. came here in 1958 from Arkansas with a dream to help people make good buying decisions, this man lives, breathes, and walks integrity, he is as humble and kind as the day is long. He comes into the office, he sits down, he gives hugs. He was past NAR President, past president of Nabor, and he helped start St. Matthews House, and Phil is on the board of Salvation Army. Sixty-one years the family culture of philanthropy, relationships, and giving back to the community lives.
Q: What is something interesting that people don’t know about you?
A: I left home at 18 to join the Army. I was a staff sergeant and a psychological operations specialist. I oversaw a team of people who were in the field. We had intelligence on what was happening with the troops, and based on the information, we learned what would be effective in influencing them to do something within their camp to defect or delay.
Q: What would you like someone who is reading this to know about Naples?
A: In a world of resort communities, Naples is a polished gem among all of them. Naples is a small community, it’s exciting, it’s one way in the summer, and another in the winter. I enjoy the laid back summer Naples and Naples in “season” is high society, international, Royalty comes here, billionaires live here. I love both styles of Naples.
