MEET JIM CRUZ! I’ve been in this line of business of lawn service and landscaping for 40 years. I worked for one of the most prominent landscapers in town and have been on my own now for 38 years, since 1981 being a business owner.

I Do lawn service and landscaping in Marco, Pelican Bay, Park Shore, and the Moorings, and Port Royal. We do lawns, trees, sodding, gardening, pest control and more. We also work as team with a few great associates to make sure our services are available at all times!

Q: Where are you from originally? A: A little town in Harlingen, Texas.
Q: How long have you lived in Collier County? A: I’ve been here since 1965 from Texas.
Q: Why did you choose Naples as your destination? A: My parents came here because there was a lot of work in Naples. I worked construction; I became a certified welder. Later on, I took a job at the Naples Beach Club, that’s when I met my wife, Patty. I used to work there part-time and I played music part time as well. What kind of music? Spanish, Cuban, Country, Rock, whatever. What instrument did you play? Bass and Rhythm Guitar.
Q: What’s your favorite restaurant in Naples. A: Alice Sweetwater’s and for a good breakfast after church on Sunday we frequent Perkins too.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be? A: Probably Colorado, I have never been there, and I love the country scene.
Q: Do you have a favorite movie? A: The Godfather, and the new series with Pierce Bronson called The Son.
Q: Anything on your bucket list? A: Go back to playing music only, that’s what I really like.
Q: Would you like to play in a band? A: Yes, I played with a lot of big stars La Mafia and Latigres Norte, these are famous Spanish bands. These guys were real professionals, I mean superstars and I played with them back in the late 70’s. Some of them stayed with me for 3 months, and we traveled to many parts of Florida as well as out of state engagements.
Q: What is your favorite music or band that you would like to see, dead or alive? A: The Four Tops, The Temptations… but my all-time favorite is the best of guitarist… Santana. Other well-known that I enjoy is Chuck Berry and B.B. King, I tend to play my guitar like these icons.
Q: What’s your happiest memory? A: When my parents lived here, then when I met my wife, Patty. We had three kids, Richie, Tiana, and Angel. We also have 9 grand children that we love so much.
Q: Choosing anyone dead or alive, with whom would you want to have lunch? A: My parents, we always miss our parents when they are gone and one more meal with them, especially my mother’s cooking, would be a dream.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5-10 years? A: Probably still working. My wife wants me to quit and retire, but I can never, I need to keep busy.
Q: What’s your favorite thing about Naples? A: I love the weather! It’s always good, so I get a lot of work all the time and I am definitely an outdoor person.
Q: What three words come to mind when you hear the word “Home”? Q: What three words come to mind when you hear the word “Home”? A: My wife, supper, and it’s always about the good times, I’m around good people.
